ECSA Benoni was established around the year 1956, as a result of people being displaced from Apex to the newly built township, Daveyton. prior to that, church services were held at nearby Mines since majority of members were Mine-workers and mainly from Lesotho. We had big numbers from various Mines like East Daggafontein, Merrivale, Vlakfontein, Sub Nigel, Geduld, Sallies, Grootvlei/Balfour, Modder East, Kleinfontein, ERPM, Winkelhaak Mines and Witbank Coal Mines, The church was then called PEMS (Paris Evangelical Missionary Society), Daveyton was then only a branch of the main Parish (Springs Parish) which was made up of five Townships. (Tsakane, Daveyton, Wattville, Kwa-thema and Vosloorus)

In those times, the only township that had a proper church building was Kwa-Thema which we used as Head Office, if you stayed at any other township you'd have to choose a nearest Mine to you. e.g Wattville people would go to Comet (ERPM) and Daveyton used to go to State Mines No 4 .

Due to State Mines being far, Daveyton people requested the use of Moshoeshoe Primary School to hold services and only went to State Mines to attend/hold bigger functions.

After the arrival of Mr Albert Motebang in 1958, who was an elder that solidified and held together the Daveyton congregation, the Priests were no longer frequent inDaveyton because Mr Motebang played the Priest part well and he was considered a Priest by all who knew him.

in 1966, under the Priestship of Rev R.Bezencon and leadership of Mr A.Motebang, the church building was completed.
